"Replacing Opart Thai House's original Lincoln Square location, Green Leaf Thai Cuisine is expected to open later this month at 4658 N. Western Avenue under longtime Opart co-head chef Rattiya Udompaichitkul, who spent more than three decades at Opart and will be helped by her son Deer. They’re repainting the space green and adding new artwork, and while the menu will keep twists on Opart favorites it won’t be a carbon copy: Rattiya plans to introduce new items such as meekarti (a stir-fried dish with pink noodles, onion, tofu, and shrimp) and som tum gaiyang (marinated chicken, papaya salad, and sticky rice). The restaurant will continue to be BYOB and aims to carry on Opart’s Thai-food legacy in Lincoln Square with the support and mutual respect of the Punmit family." - Ashok Selvam
