"Reports of a planned diner near a tiny town deep in South Texas, close to the Gulf and the Mexico border, stem from a Twitter request to put a diner in the little city on the tip of the Texas border and a Twitter reply of "ok" to the idea. The blog Not a Tesla App notes that tourism in the area has grown thanks to fans who want to watch SpaceX launches, and that Musk's aeronautical company has purchased much of the land in the town, which measures about 1.5 square miles and largely houses company employees. Local projects cited include a $22 million community-center development currently underway and, according to My San Antonio, a $20 million K–12 school, a medical clinic, and a $2 million multi-family development. If the proposed diner follows the same sourcing model as the Los Angeles outpost, foods would be acquired within range of a Tesla — in South Texas, "just over 300 miles" in a Tesla Model S — potentially covering suppliers from the San Antonio area down into the Monterrey and Tamaulipas regions of Mexico." - Courtney E.
