"I'm able to drink Willamette Valley pinots in Erath's new Pearl District tasting room, which replaces its closed Dundee Hills tasting room after the lease ended; the timing allowed the team to renovate a Pearl District warehouse while restaurants were shuttered. Known as one of the Willamette Valley’s first pinot noir producers, the colorful space mixes geometric design touches with exposed brick and unfinished wood and pops of cerulean, turquoise, and brassy golds, and a custom light fixture over the bar spells out “Dundee” in curly letters as a nod to its origins. During social distancing the bar is closed for casual tasting, but the room is taking reservations for parties under six with strict safety protocols—tasting spaces will be sanitized between customers and staff receive temperature checks—and will offer flights with cheese pairings sourced from local cheesemakers (for instance, the lightly oaked Le Choix Chardonnay paired with Portland Creamery chevre and pear-hazelnut pate). Flights and pairings will change over time; customers can also fill growlers with pinot gris or noir and take home bottles. Reservations are being taken for opening day, September 10, by calling (503) 538-3318 or visiting the website." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
