New Thai Rolled Ice Cream Shop Lands on North Lamar | Eater Austin

"Thai rolled ice cream is coming to 704 North Lamar Boulevard courtesy of Frozen Rolls Creamery; the downtown ice cream shop is set to open sometime this summer, ideally in August. The frozen sweet will be made right on the spot by pouring the liquid onto an anti-griddle with mix-ins and other flavors, cooling it into thin layers and scraping it into cylindrical rolls. I was told owners Warren and Kathy didn’t disclose much of the menu yet, but everything will be made in-house and almost everything will be sourced locally, including the dairy and fruits; they’re particularly proud of the vegan flavors, which “will satisfy even the non-vegan people,” said Warren. There will also be non-alcoholic drinks, and they took over the space that had been home to Tops Kitchens and Baths, keeping the building’s unique angled shape and offering indoor and outdoor seating." - Nadia Chaudhury
