"Coming to Bressi Ranch’s new Lift development in Carlsbad, Del Lusso’s is a fast-casual, family- and dog-friendly pizzeria slated to open by late summer. I learned co-owner and chef Walter Wong, a Carlsbad resident who transitioned from a successful software career, and co-founder Steve Seminara developed a scalable model for the concept. Pizzas will be Neapolitan-style, cooked at 800 degrees in a custom brick oven and ready in about 90 seconds, made with imported Italian wheat flour, bufala mozzarella, and San Marzano tomatoes; offerings will range from classic margherita to pies featuring locally sourced ingredients such as vegetables from North County’s Chino Farms. The 1,600-square-foot space will include a 650-square-foot patio, offer two pizza sizes plus slices-to-go at lunch, and a broader menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pasta, gelato and coffee, plus beer and wine.
