SNL Weekend Update Sketch: Smokery Farms Sisters Sell Bad Meat | Eater

"On Weekend Update during John Mulaney–hosted SNL, two goofy farm-owner sisters, Vaneta and Wylene Starkie (played by Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant), pitch a meat brand that reassures carnivores by claiming it sources only "individually stupid and bad" animals. Their sales pitch features a "gorgeous little stinking basket" of cuts — a veal filet made from a little dud who couldn’t do tricks and refused his Halloween costume, lamb chops from lambs that would not stop body-shaming the goats, chicken nuggets from a bird who couldn’t identify himself in the mirror, and bacon fashioned from a little piggy who went to market and held its owner at gunpoint — all presented as undesirable personalities that nevertheless taste great. The sketch mines the concept for comedy, with the sisters insisting these are "bad criminals y’all, but they taste incredible," and much of the humor coming from the performers' and Weekend Update host Colin Jost’s exaggerated reactions to the foul odors emanating from the box (Jost quips, "that thing smells so bad")." - Greg Morabito
