"Watching a celebrated chocolatier launch a line of chocolates in 2004, then an Echo Park shop in 2013, and finally open this 5,000-square-foot Glendale outpost in 2022 has been a literal treat. Valerie Gordon turns out toffees, petit fours, pies, and an outstanding signature coffee crunch cake, and the Glendale shop’s adorable covered patio is a sweet place to enjoy them. Check the daily specials — quiche or a breakfast hand pie with a flaky salt-and-pepper crust filled with herby scrambled eggs, ham, and melted Swiss — then order one plus a slice of pie to complete breakfast.
