"Filling the gap left by the closing of Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub, this new superpub in City Market honors Savannah’s strong ties to Ireland’s Wexford County through immigration. Designed by the Irish Pub Company with much input from Dr. Howard Keeley, director of Georgia Southern University’s Center for Irish Research and Teaching, the pub’s multimillion-dollar buildout sourced not only its namesake inspiration but much of the millwork, furniture, and artifacts that fill its 13,000-plus square feet. Behind the bar is a wide selection of Irish whiskey, while the upstairs level boasts live music, a small library of books by Irish authors, and mirror portraits depicting some of Savannah’s most famous residents of Irish descent, including the Southern gothic writer Flannery O’Connor. The menu further nods to the Emerald Isle with dishes like fish and chips, Atlantic salmon, and its three-day house-brined corned beef and cabbage served with soda bread and butter." - Colleen McNally Arnett
