Chipotle Will Open on Magazine Street After Backing Out, Getting Sued | Eater New Orleans

"After backing out of plans last spring and prompting a lawsuit from the building’s owners, renovations at 2801 Magazine have resumed and Chipotle is projected to open this summer. The chain gained city planning approval in early 2018 only after months of wrangling with neighbors who feared a national chain’s impact on Uptown and the “cultural potency” of Magazine Street; the landlord, 2801 Magazine, LLC, had sued, claiming Chipotle’s earlier withdrawal violated a “good-neighbor” agreement and lowered the building’s value. This Garden District location will be Chipotle’s first in New Orleans proper, joining existing area locations in Metairie and Harahan." - Clair Lorell
