"Located inside the newly opened Houston CityPlace Marriott in Springwoods Village at 1200 Lake Plaza Drive, SwitcHouse Plates & Pours debuted as Spring’s first upscale restaurant and the first restaurant in CityPlace. Gensler-designed interiors draw on local nature and the railroad industry, featuring mossy green leather chairs, wooden tables, honey-colored wood floors inlaid with diamond-motif tiles; uniforms incorporate denim to pay homage to railway workers and the lighting is meant to evoke “pine needles on a forest path” and water circles made by raindrops on the area ponds. Chef Jorge Petterson, who brings a lengthy hotel-industry background from Florida, California, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and many Marriott properties and has been in the Houston area for two years, will lead a seasonal menu that uses local produce and meat and applies smoke treatments for his interpretation of “Texas flair,” including a beer can smoked hen, smoked onion soup, slow smoked brisket, as well as steaks, seafood, and shared plates. Facing CityPlace Park and the lake system and within walking distance of major employers like the ExxonMobil campus and Southwestern Energy, the restaurant is serving meals from morning until night (hours to be announced), according to a press release." - Alaena Hostetter
