"Opened at the end of September in Oakland, this diner-style spot serves American comfort food infused with Korean flavors and is the latest restaurant from the group behind Ohgane, produced in collaboration with the team from Chimmelier (and partners tied to Hanchi and Jilli). The smash burgers are the stars: four-ounce patties made daily from a grind of chuck, short rib, and brisket, available as single, double, or triple cheeseburgers topped with Oh G Sauce (a garlic aioli made with confit garlic). The menu also includes animal fries, tots, onion rings, BLT, tuna melt, chopped cheese, and a wagyu burger; the kimchi grilled cheese layers Ohgane’s homemade kimchi with cheese and bacon on sourdough and grills it until melted; the bulgogi burger — based on Lotteria’s classic — pairs the short-rib blend patty with ssamjang aioli, pickled red onions, caramelized onions, and Ohgane’s bulgogi sauce so that a bite almost tastes like a ssam (Korean lettuce wrap)." - Dianne de Guzman
