"Tucked in a Second Avenue high-rise near the downtown waterfront, the Shop by Porter feels like the archetypal 'hip cafe' with stylish, minimalist furniture, lots of plants, and shelves displaying textiles and dinnerware for sale; the menu features grain bowls, sandwiches, and quiche and there are typically people camped at tables working on laptops or tablets. Walk past the counter and it shifts into a quasi-office, with a glass-walled conference room with wall-mounted screens, additional meeting rooms and a one-person office for private calls, and the ability to rent meeting spaces starting at $60 an hour. Porter pivoted this space from a living showroom into a hybrid cafe/retail/event venue in 2019, and it now hosts events on the ground floor and the building's 13th-floor roof deck (from hi-fi listening parties to talks), deliberately blending hospitality, food and beverage, and workspace to activate otherwise empty building square footage." - Harry Cheadle
