"I note that the Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley is located on unceded Ohlone territory and that the pairing with Cafe Ohlone initially “felt extremely fraught” because of the Hearst family’s history and a former museum director whose research contributed to the tribe’s loss of federal recognition; the museum’s hosting of Cafe Ohlone is being approached as part of an effort toward oṭṭoy, to repair and create a new path forward between the university and the Ohlone community." - Dianne de Guzman
