"Opening Sunday at Carillon Point in Kirkland, this huge new Italian restaurant called Como will seat 120 in a 3,700-square-foot space; I was struck by its Mediterranean motif with two lounges, outdoor seating, a fireplace, and plenty of Lake Washington views. Chef Gabriel Chavez is behind a pizza-and-pasta menu that leans into the Lake Como inspiration, with dishes such as casoncelli alla bergamasca (pasta stuffed with meat) and saffron risotto, and cocktails like The Deep, made with bourbon, amaro, and Carpano Antica. Owners Trevor and Leigh Canlis Greenwood (who run the critically-acclaimed Cantinetta in Wallingford) even commissioned a wood boat that can transport six guests to and from Seattle, an extravagant touch born of their love for Italy’s Lake Como—the fancy Lombardy resort area that George Clooney calls home." - Gabe Guarente
