Copenhagen’s Mikkeller Brewery Bar in Shoreditch London Is Now Open | Eater London

"The Shoreditch outpost of an iconic Copenhagen craft brewery opened on 19 October 2018 at 2-4 Hackney Road. Founded in 2006 by Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and Kristian Klarup Keller, the brewery has built a cult following through a wide range of beer styles, high-profile collaborations with restaurants like Alinea and Noma, and international expansion to cities including San Diego and New York. The bar launch involved a partnership with Rick Astley — who previously teamed with the brewer on the Northern Hop Lager, distinguished by a red tint reportedly referencing Astley’s ginger hair — and was presented as a personal collaboration with Astley and his wife. The Shoreditch site echoes the Copenhagen venues with light wood, clean lines and many taps on the walls, and focuses on collaborative and experimental brews; fruit-forward beers typically highlight the added ingredient (blueberries, raisins, raspberries, blackcurrants) up front rather than trying to fully integrate it.
