Freed’s Bakery now open northwest Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Run by the team behind a longstanding local bakery, this new northern Las Vegas location offers pastries, cookies, cake slices, 7-inch round cakes and sheet cakes—all baked at the original 9815 S. Eastern Ave. shop. The bakery is celebrating its 59th anniversary and marked the grand opening with an Oct. 6 event (noon–3 p.m.) featuring free sweets, raffle prizes, outdoor games and grand prizes such as a custom bakery cake and two admissions to cake-decorating classes. Menu highlights include strawberry shortcake, cannoli filled with sweet ricotta, cinnamon and chocolate chips, and a Parisian cake made of chocolate layers iced with Belgian chocolate–blended whipped cream and topped with chocolate shavings; wedding and birthday cakes can also be ordered. The dessert shop is open 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, and orders can be placed by calling the original bakery at 702-456-7762 or the new shop at 702-795-3456." - Susan Stapleton
