"Opened on March 28 inside the newly renovated westdrift Manhattan Beach, Jute Coastal Bar + Kitchen arrives just in time for warmer months. The menu favors shared plates—highlights include an ahi tuna ceviche with aguachile and a salt-roasted beets with raspberry, arugula, herbed goat cheese, pistachio and nitrogen—while larger entrees feature a grilled hanger steak and a sustainable king salmon. Chef Octavio Sabado, who previously worked at The Bazaar at the SLS and gained experience at Porto’s and the T‑Bird Restaurant Group, runs the kitchen. The central bar is filled with woven chairs, white-and-blue tiles and skylights, and the bi-coastal cocktail program includes a drink inspired by Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can infused with Grand Poppy Amaro from LA’s Greenbar Distillery. Jute offers breakfast daily from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and its name refers to the rough tropical plant fiber used to make twine and rope." - Mona Holmes
