"I learned that an expansive new restaurant and sports bar in Mission Valley opens Thursday, January 11, offering a high-tech game-watching experience: the 11,500-square-foot NOVO Mission Valley—NOVO Brazil Brewing Company's first venture outside the South Bay—spans an 8,000-square-foot dining room, a 40-seat bar, and a 3,500-square-foot patio with fire pits. The menu pairs classic bar fare like chicken wings and jalapeño poppers with Brazilian items such as empanadas, chicken croquettes, and skewers of Brazilian sausage and prime sirloin, and its 64 taps carry NOVO’s full beverage line (beer, kombucha, beer cocktails, hard seltzers) with special beers produced in an on-site microbrewery that will also let guests brew their own. Positioned as a family-friendly venue with connections to local teams from the SDSU Aztecs to San Diego Wave FC, it’s outfitted for serious game viewing with large-scale video walls, multiple TV screens, surround sound, moving lights, and CO2 blasts that will trigger when the home teams score; it will be open daily at noon and will open earlier for select games." - Candice Woo
