"A new Wienerschnitzel outpost opened this week at 20130 U.S. Highway 59 in New Caney in east Montgomery County, marking the chain’s first new Houston-area location and technically a return after it operated several Houston locations decades ago. I note the menu centers on its signature chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries (it’s aiming to make a big splash locally), along with Tastee-Freez frozen desserts, a variety of hot dogs including corn dogs, Chicago dogs and kraut-covered dogs, plus burgers, sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and fries doused in chili. More locations are planned— including a store east of downtown Houston in Baytown by the end of 2019—and local investors Zaheed Umatiya and the Buns & Dogs team are involved. Wienerschnitzel’s director of U.S. franchise development, Ted Milburn, emphasized that the chain has been part of the Texas family dining scene since selling its first hot dog in Amarillo in 1968 and wants Houstonians to experience its signature items." - Adele Chapin
