"The community board’s SLA licensing committee signed off on the plans for new proprietors Avi Burn, Anthony C. Marano, Scott Marano, and chef Jonathan Kavourakis to reopen iconic Noho restaurant Great Jones Cafe, which has been closed ever since its former owner Jim Moffett died. The new team agreed to the stipulations of moving the closing time from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m Sunday through Wednesday and moving the kitchen vent from the front of the building. Burn, who also owns Pinks and Pinks Cantina, said at the meeting that Kavourakis will make a menu that “people can eat several times per week” and that the Cajun-influenced food served at the original Great Jones Cafe “is a once-in-a-while treat for many people.” He also noted that some of the original dishes will appear on the menu. The board’s approval is advisory to the State Liquor Authority, which makes the final call." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
