Century City’s New 15,000 Square Foot Steakhouse Is Comically Opulent - Eater LA
"Southern California has long been a starter home of sorts for burgeoning chains both large and small, ranging from In-N-Out and McDonald’s to Island’s and Baskin-Robbins. Next up? Nationwide sit-down company Del Frisco and their outlandish new Double Eagle Steakhouse, which just opened last week in Century City. Unlike other starter chains, Double Eagle is supposed to be as opulent as the dining room of the Titanic. The place slides into the Westfield Century City mall with over 15,000 square feet of dining space split across two levels. Granted, the tri-level Italian marketplace and restaurant stop Eataly (also at Westfield Century City) clocks in at 67,000 square feet, but still, this is a giant undertaking for what is basically just a steak and wine spot. Unlike the more downmarket Del Frisco’s Grille, this first-ever Double Eagle will skew towards the high-end side of the equation. That means $2 million in just wine (and over 10,000 labels, reps say), plus a grand baby piano, private entrances for groups using the private dining areas, an upstairs champagne bar, loads of marble, and crystal chandeliers. Seriously, look at these photos: This Double Eagle Steakhouse is the sixteenth such location for the publicly-traded company, and immediately acts as an anchor for the massively overhauled indoor-outdoor mall. The place still has plenty of competition for dining dollars though, as that Westfield also has a Shake Shack, a Din Tai Fung, a Wexler’s, and a whole lot more.
