"I've learned that Coco Leaf is a cafe specializing in bubble tea and Vietnamese-inspired desserts that recently expanded to Boston’s Back Bay by taking over the space at 303 Newbury St.; the new location grandly opened on Friday, June 7. The spacious Newbury Street shop is currently serving a variety of bubble teas and smoothies as well as treats like macarons and cakes, though its signature che — a soup-like Vietnamese dessert that combines tapioca (boba) with ingredients such as coconut and chia seeds, avocado, pandan jelly, and red bean — is delayed for training and is expected to be available within a couple weeks. Coco Leaf first opened in Dorchester (1480 Dorchester Ave.) in early 2017, founded by chef Pete Om (an alum of O Ya and El Celler de Can Roca) and partner Eric Ly, and both locations operate seven days a week, from morning to night." - Dana Hatic
