South First Mexican Seafood Restaurant Alcomar Suddenly Closes - Eater Austin

"Alcomar, the Mexican seafood restaurant from the El Chile Group, is now closed. The shutter happened because of a “proposed rent increase by [their] landlords,” according to its Facebook page. Its last day of service on 1816 South 1st Street was last night, Tuesday, May 22. The restaurant group said it tried to negotiate new terms, but “staying open was simply not a viable option.” Alcomar, which opened in April 2015, was overseen by chefs Alma Alcocer-Thomas and Jeff Martinez. It was particularly known for its lengthy happy hour, which ran from 3 to 6 p.m. daily." - Nadia Chaudhury
