"Opened on Junction Boulevard in Corona, Queens since 1976 by brothers Jesus Rene and Rodobaldo Acosta, this family-owned Cuban restaurant will close on August 31. Eater’s critic once called it "the best Cuban restaurant in town." Esther and Rudy Acosta, who took over the restaurant from their great-uncles in 2011, attributed the closure to the pandemic, saying, "We never fully recovered from COVID;" the decades-old restaurant was limited to takeout for much of the pandemic, its outdoor setup consisted of a single table, and the family faced an upcoming rent increase. They now hope to open another location in Long Island, where they opened a second restaurant in 2015." - Luke Fortney
