"Using $175,000 in CARES Act funds, city leaders worked with the Kent Downtown Partnership to put up tented seating areas and patio heaters around Kent Station (which includes spots like Duke’s Seafood, Agave Cocina and Cantina, and Mama Stortini’s); the city hopes to have the project finished by the end of October and is fielding additional requests on a first-come, first-served basis. Gaila Gutierrez, the partnership’s executive director, said businesses are relieved they don’t have to prepare for winter on their own, that the heaters should take some of the chill off and that additional lighting is being considered as nights get darker." - Gabe Guarente
