"The first stateside location for the Michelin-recognized taqueria is slated to open at Westfield Plaza Bonita by May 30 and will bring the brand’s signature adobada and carne asada on corn tortillas to a 6,000-square-foot space. Originating in 1974 when Javier Valadez sold Tijuana-style tacos out of a street cart and later opening an open-air, brick-and-mortar taqueria in 1996, the new location will carry the same dishes with additions like fries cooked in beef tallow. The cheve bar will serve Mexican beer, micheladas, clamatos, and caguama (large bottles of beer). A second location will open at 528 Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter in late June." - Helen I. Hwang
