"Opened in 1982 by John and Jo Dean, McCabe’s was named after the nearby city-owned golf course. It evolved from a sports bar to a lunch-and-dinner establishment known for its welcoming atmosphere and comforting takes on American Southern cuisine. The pub was famous for char-grilled burgers, hand-cut fries, pan-fried trout, meat-and-three plates, and homemade cakes. Stefanie Dean Brown and Katie Dean Egbert, daughters of the founders, later took over operations. McCabe’s received numerous awards, including 'Favorite Neighborhood Bar,' 'Best Burger,' and 'Best Dessert.' The pub also hosted the McCabe Pub Crawfish Boil, raising awareness for lymphangioleiomyomatosis and the LAM Foundation. The restaurant operates Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and will close in January 2024." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
