"A major retail chain has launched a paid “InHome” membership that allows vetted delivery employees to enter customers’ homes to restock groceries. The service charges $19.95 per month plus a one-time $49.95 fee for a smart lock or smart garage door kit; deliveries are performed by couriers who wear body cameras and must have been company employees for at least a year and passed multiple background checks. Security features include single-use passcodes valid for a specific delivery window and locks that will only open if the deliverer’s body camera is recording and livestreaming. The pilot is available to roughly 1 million customers in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Vero Beach, Florida, with plans to expand nationwide to compete with a similar in-home delivery service introduced by a rival in 2017." - Jenny G.
