"Preserving the original Milk & Honey legacy, Monique Rose has opened what she’s calling a “last hurrah” at The Real Milk and Honey Pancake Factory, located at 4531 Telfair Boulevard in Suitland. I see longtime hits on the menu like big, boozy milkshakes, jerk lamb lollipops, and the all-time fan favorite “Chef Mo’s” half-pound shrimp and grits, which Rose says remains the No. 1 seller and makes up 20 percent of revenue. The all-day brunch spot debuts with 20 types of sweet and savory pancakes — from chocolate-covered strawberry to honey butter pancakes made with cornbread — alongside breakfast birria tacos, vegan options, and Lowcountry seafood available in regular or spicy Cajun varieties. The 5,000-square-foot, 150-seat flagship features an open kitchen, full bar, a 75-seat dining room, a 50-seat patio, private event space, and a market selling goods from local, women, and BIPOC vendors. It serves all-day brunch and dinner Monday–Saturday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and brunch-only Sunday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), with a limited pre-opening menu served 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Rose says focusing on this location has allowed her to move from frozen to fresher ingredients like fresh spinach and avocados." - Tierney Plumb
