Salt Lake City Has 2 New Airport Lounges for Winter Travelers

"Inside Concourse B’s new Delta Sky Club I found a supersized, ski-lodge–inspired space that opened to travelers on October 28 as the airline’s second lounge at SLC; between the two Delta lounges the airport will now offer about 1,200 seats, and this location is the second-largest in Delta’s system at 34,000 square feet. Riding up the escalator, a large central fireplace greets guests, and most seating—done in neutral and jewel tones—faces enormous floor-to-ceiling windows framing the tarmac; artwork from local artists, warm wood tones, copper accents, unique lighting, and terrazzo mosaic flooring are all meant to mirror Utah’s mountains, lakes, and caverns. Highlights include a panoramic 4-D digital immersion wall showcasing Utah landmarks (some paired with the sounds of falling rain), nine sound‑proof telephone booths, a wrap‑around bar serving craft cocktails and mocktails, and a make‑your‑own dirty soda bar with suggested recipes celebrating the local nonalcoholic soda tradition. Foodservice features beverage stations for tea and coffee plus an expansive buffet—on opening day it ranged from bagels, yogurt, and pomegranate‑studded chia seed pudding for breakfast to salads, sandwiches, and soups later in the day, with desserts like chocolate croissants, double‑chocolate brownies, and maple pumpkin cheesecake parfaits—and the menu changes seasonally with the vast majority of items made in‑house in newly built kitchens." - Emily Hochberg
