Hotel Saint Andre des Arts, St Germain des Pres, Paris, France - Explore & Book

"Saint-Germain-des-Prés has been the favourite hangout of Paris's trendy youth and creative community for decades, loved for its independent bistros, boutiques and artisanal vibe. Behind its 18th-century façade, Saint André des Arts conceals a suitably colourful character. The group behind one of our favourites in Paris, Hotel Baume, enlisted interior designer Chloé Nègre to revive this former artist's residence with the feel-good power of nostalgia. She skilfully used the spirit of the 1960s and '70s, a golden era in colour, music and design, to create this unconventionally cool hotel. Move over Scandi-chic - these playful pop-art interiors are for the maximalists, and you won’t find a flat-pack within these walls. The 30 pristine bedrooms are decked out in bold colours, clashing patterns and pieces of iconic designer furniture; bright orange Tam Tam stools by Henry Massonet and the signature cylindrical side tables of Anna Castelli Ferrieri are just the start. But it’s by no means style over substance: beds are sumptuously comfortable, modern amenities come as standard, and quiet rooms (even above the street) guarantee a great night's sleep. There’s a soft rock-and-roll soundtrack throughout, an underground spa to relieve your senses, and an elegant sage green breakfast room/bar to start and end your day in. And in between? You’re a short walk from the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Seine, and perfectly placed to sample the city’s famed cuisine and café culture. Highs Location: situated in a buzzing central neighbourhood that Parisians love, and close to the main sights The tranquil Wellness Area in the cavernous stone cellar is heavenly after a full day of sightseeing Staff are friendly, professional and eager to help with your trip itinerary We loved the little extras: warm sweet treats on arrival, handmade chocolates in the room, a hotel-branded travel bag on departure There are cosseting rooms for 2 or connecting suites for families; everyone is welcome Lows There are uneven floors throughout this old building, so watch your step They only serve breakfast; for the rest of your meals you've got Paris' gourmet delights on the doorstep The bold retro theme won't be to everyone's taste, but we love how unique it is Only two rooms (a Superior and a Deluxe) have bathtubs" - Alice Tegg
