Downstairs in the signature Pot&Pan restaurant, diners overlook the Douro River, although the interior design puts up a good fight for your attention. Every inch of this beautifully restored former 19th-century factory is creative but not showy, historic without being frozen in time, and refreshingly unpretentious – a lot like Porto itself. The hotel offers 103 suites, three restaurants, and a Roman-inspired spa. It's luxury with soul. Easy and relaxing, with late breakfasts, early checkouts, unstuffy customer service, and homemade pastel de natas hand-delivered to your door. (Yes, please.)
