"When French owner Stephanie and her family decided to open a hotel in the sleepy village of Ferreries, people questioned why they’d chosen the quiet inland location - but they soon accrued a clutch of loyal guests. “People seem to love the authenticity of the village, and we’re equidistant from all of Menorca’s attractions,” says Stephanie. It’s true: halfway between bustling Mao and pretty Ciutadella, and within easy reach of the north- and south-coast beaches, Ses Sucreres is perfectly placed for exploring. And as Ferreries dodges much of the Menorcan tourist trade, you get to spend your evenings sampling tapas in the village bars and your mornings waking to little more than the sound of bird song. The hotel itself is a converted bougainvillea-draped house on a quiet cobbled street where children play. Despite the unassuming facade, indoors you’re met by a funky mixture of international photography, geometric prints, reclaimed desks and a very large portrait of a hound. This creative approach proves utterly beguiling.Note: in spring 2022 they will be adding a second building, with additional courtyard, café and decorative pool; plus, from 2023, a further 6 bedrooms.
