"Jardin de la Paz translates as 'Garden of Peace', a wonderfully apt name for this flourishing oasis above Tenerife's north coast. Although only an hour's drive from Playa de las Americas, this cluster of 12 apartments and villas feels a million miles away from the frenzy of the southern resorts. Frequented by those who appreciate the climate, scenery and sub-tropical flora of Tenerife - but not the crowds - Jardin de la Paz provides top-notch self-catering accommodation in lush gardens, plus 2 heated swimming pools. Activities such as trekking, horse-riding, tennis and golf can be arranged, but in truth most guests spend their days lazing on loungers, reading and soaking up the staggering panoramic views. There are few better places to do very little. The German owners are a husband-and-wife constructor and interior designer team. After failing to sell 3 neighbouring properties, they were inspired to create Jardin de la Paz: a huge gain for the island's hospitality industry. Very few hotels in Tenerife's vast array of options match the level of bespoke service and high quality design found here. A truly indulgent stay. Highs Most apartments and villas have picture windows with unobstructed, head-spinning views of the ocean below We loved the lush, terraced sub-tropical gardens, bursting with colour and secluded corners of palm shade and birdsong 2 heated pools and a choice of temperature - refreshing or lukewarm The freshly squeezed juices - made from fruit grown in the garden - are a treat for breakfast Excellent restaurants nearby serving delicious tapas and typical Canarian dishes Lows Lots of steps; a definite no-go for those with limited mobility It's a long way down a steep hill for a swim in the sea - and a heart-pumping climb back! No official restaurant on site and only 1 within walking distance, but fantastic daily breakfasts and a relaxed evening meal once a week Remote; a car is vital to explore the surrounding area" - Joe Cawley
