"The first thing that’ll catch your eye about this Temple City spot is its design. There’s a row of tables inside thatched roof huts when you walk in, and booths separated by towering bamboo poles. It all looks a bit like the line for a narrative-based theme park ride, and fortunately, food is as memorable as the decor. We go for half and half broth (one “spicy” with Sichuan peppercorns and one tamer mushroom-based broth) and then pick any vegetable or spice-rubbed meat that looks good. It’s not for the faint of heart, but the cumin beef soaked in spicy broth is the physical equivalent of unplugging and replugging your taste buds." - Brant Cox
