"There’s a sense of nostalgia at Tipico’s that you don’t get anywhere else in Dallas, and it's filled with generations of families laughing over tortilla chips and plastic ramekins full of warm salsa. They make homestyle Mexican dishes that taste like the kind of food you ate as a kid on weekend mornings—straightforward, but somehow impossible to replicate yourself. And it all tastes better in a laminate booth with Tejaño music blaring in the background. You’ll smell the huevos con chorizo before you see them: eggs folded with crumbly, bold sausage slick with cumin and paprika-laced fat.
