"We promise we’ll get to the wine in a second, but the first thing you should know about Room For Friends is the flights. Not the wine flights—the Cheez-It and Oreo flights. This midwestern through-and-through spot prioritizes proper snacking in the form of a sampling of four of the finest Cheez-It and Oreo varieties, bacon cheeseballs with Ritz crackers, and chicken ranch wraps. The salty crackers, especially, pair beautifully with most of the well-priced wines, which include some pretty out-there glasses (definitely try the smoky South African Barista Pinotage) and more familiar varietals. It’s evident that the Room For Friends crowd isn’t into fussy food or dry ice cocktails, which would be out of place among the garage-sale-find furniture and Cheez-It platter anyway." - Allyson Reedy
