"Eda’s Pizzeria is the only place in Philly to get New Haven-style pizza, a statement that would hold no weight if the pizzas were subpar. But their combination of quality ingredients on deliciously light yet charred, thin-crust pizzas has the goods to make it the best pizza in Manayunk. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo video credit: Nicole Guglielmo Pause Unmute The shop is inside Lucky’s Trading Co., along with two other fast-casual restaurants, so the scene is more of a revolving door of friends making pizza pit stops than it is groups hanging out. The constant crowds on gameday and the weekend do mean you’ll be in for a wait, likely near stacked tube TVs or Gritty artwork (we recommend calling ahead). You should make the call, since there are no bad options on the menu—including the seasonal pies, like the spring vegetable, which is a good, charred, spinach-heavy, cheesy bet. And classics like their margherita and specialties like razor-thin potato and rosemary are what occupy our thoughts after coming here. Well, maybe we get jump scares about that image of nude Gritty, too. Food Rundown Potato And Rosemary The pizzas here only come in one 18” size. And this seasonal one (a summer pie) is like a giant UFO covered in tender potatoes, mozzarella, and finely grated rosemary, which is more like confetti over each inch. It’s fragrant, rich, and we’re sure if the aliens did come to Earth with a ship made out of this pizza, our defense plan would be just to eat it. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo New Haven Tomato Pie We take tomato pie seriously. So, when anyone says they’re giving it a remix, we’re more skeptical than if we get a phone call from a long-lost relative offering us $1,000,000. However, this pie succeeds because it keeps the focus on the sweet, tangy red basil sauce. The thin crust remains structurally sound and serves as a good, blistered mattress for the whole thing. It’s not going to make you give up the breadier, focaccia-like version, but you won’t regret your order. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo Margherita This thing is wet. We’re talking a saucy ocean with mozzarella islands sticking and a bubbly ring holding it all together. It hits all the classic margherita notes. Order it. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo White Sausage & Broccoli Rabe If you’re in the mood for a spicy kick, this is the only pizza on the menu with heat. A little bitterness from the broccoli rabe here, a little pile of peppery sausage there, it’s a crackly white pie that makes up for a lack of sauciness with gooey strands of mozzarella. Fair trade. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo" - Candis R. McLean
