"Paper Plane in Hapeville is a Thai restaurant with a bar-like ambience and fun patio that make it a great setting for everything from date nights to kid-friendly outings. While parking is the biggest challenge, the wins here are obvious. Their big patio is strung with enough lights to satisfy the decorating dreams of any middle schooler. And it has enough space to run a victory lap after you beat your kid at cornhole. Also, there’s live music twice a week, and you can order a Mexican Empire lager from Hapeville’s own Arches Brewing. Try the Pad Zu with its soft noodles and the mildly spiced crispy vegetable spring rolls. Even though it’s always busy with after-work crowds, friend groups, and families, you can usually pop by any day of the week and be seated pretty quickly. photo credit: Amy Sinclair Food Rundown Panang Curry The panang curry is a worthy order—creamy, rich, and slightly more sweet than savory. If you get it with salmon, know that the fish could use a bit more seasoning, but it works very well when drenched in the curry. Pad Zu Chicken One of the best things on the menu, the soy-heavy noodles are perfectly tender without being limp. The chicken is tender and flavorful. Massamun Curry Despite sitting in a pool of creamy, slightly sweet Massamun curry, the battered fish still retains its crispiness. This is a great choice. Rad Na Shrimp + Crab This is very good. You get a generous amount of crab meat. The sauce isn’t very thick, but the wide glass noodles absorb the liquid really well." - Jacinta Howard
