Molly Mc's - Review - Southwark - London - The Infatuation

"Molly Mc’s is a carefully curated Irish boozer. Packets of Taytos are arranged just-so at this Southwark spot, and you’re more likely to hear Noah Kahan’s ‘Stick Season’ wafting out of the karaoke booths (it’s a ‘singing pub’) than ‘The Fields of Athenry’. Gs will be split here, and spice bags papped before being torn into. It’s an Irish boozer that’s undergone media training. video credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch video credit: Sinéad Cranna Pause Unmute Still, there’s no denying that this handsome, lively pub has cracked the formula for post-work pints. Big, roomy tables are snapped up by hoards of office-workers, crowd-pleasing Thai dishes like drunken noodles and prawn pad thai suit the pint-happy mood. Come on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday when the live band strikes up and order the spice bag. It’s one of the best in London. Food Rundown Vegetable Spring Rolls Our response to these spring rolls is the same as when our partner asks if we’re OK when we’re really not: “fine, just fine”. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Tamarind Duck With Cabbage And Rice The tamarind sauce is all the right kinds of sweet and sour, and the rice is a suitably sticky vehicle for scooping up every last drop. The duck is more fat than meat in parts, though. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna ‘Molly’s Spicebag’ This spice bag is what you come to Molly Mc’s for. They’re generous with the chicken—they call it popcorn, we call it boulders—and the chips have a delicious spice coating that leans more sweet than spicy. The curry sauce has nice coconutty notes running through it, too. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna
