Mandalay Cafe & Mart

Cafe · Jackson Heights

"Located inside the Jackson Height-Roosevelt Avenue subway station, Mandalay Cafe is a great place to take out-of-towners who want to experience something uniquely New York without dropping the equivalent of a mortgage payment on a suburban starter home on a meal. Mandalay Cafe is a warm, welcoming space, even though it only has a few tables and a small counter with a view of the station. The walls are lined with hard-to-find Burmese ingredients and imports, like packets of a powdered milk tea that have made it into our regular rotation at home. Choose from a short but exciting menu of Burmese salads, noodle and paratha dishes. The tea leaf salad is non-negotiable, and we also love the cold, curried chicken and egg noodle salad." - Carina Finn
