"Scolari’s has been the Alameda burger go-to long before the In-N-Out even existed. And not to state the obvious, but a burger dripping with blueberry sauce and bacon from this counter-service spot is much better than anything you’ll get from a drive-thru. Another between-a-bun winner is the crunchy fried chicken sandwich with thick smattering of creamy sauce. Get that plus the deeply golden-brown fries, which must be dunked in their aioli that comes on the side. You can always bring your meal to the dive bar Lucky 13 next door (they welcome outside food) when you're in the mood for a conversation with a chatty bartender." - Julia Chen
