"Latin Bites is pretty understated. Aside from an intricate hummingbird mural, it’s mostly a handful of wooden tables and a few hanging plants. Any enthusiasm comes from the high-energy servers singing for the occasional birthday. As for the food, the excitement varies each visit. On its best days, Latin Bites makes excellent classics like lomo saltado, which comes bathed in a sweet soy-based marinade. And on other days, the West Oaks cafe’s inconsistency results in chewy beef skewers and ceviches being overrun with acidity. The best time to bet on Latin Bites is during Happy Hour, when the discounted prices make the food less risky." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi
