"Italian food is everywhere at the Jersey Shore, with options ranging from hoagies to white tablecloth dining. La Vecchia Fontana falls somewhere in the middle: nice enough for a special meal, but also relaxed and welcoming enough for an early bird caesar salad and a plate of homemade gnocchi with fresh mozz. It has the same owner as Polpo, also in Avalon, so you can eat the same very good risotto with mushrooms or linguine with clams—but it’s a little easier to score a table here." - Regan Stephens
