"Pizza Matta is from the team behind Giant, its next-door neighbor in Logan Square and one of The Best Restaurants In Chicago. But the pizza here is, ultimately, just fine. Both tavern and NY-style pizzas are build-your-own, with lots of delicious, locally sourced ingredients, though the topping distribution lacks consistency. One side may look like a luscious landscape of pepperoni, sausage, and banana peppers, while the other is a barren cheesy desert. Similarly, the cook of the pizzas is hit-or-miss—they might come with a nicely charred edge but undercooked center, or be just a little too well done.
