"The person taking your order at Jonesy’s will tell you their Nashville hot chicken isn’t all that hot. (They’re correct.) However, this casual counter-service spot in Goleta doesn’t need to blow your head off with spice—because their fried chicken is excellent on its own. Jonesy’s pounds its juicy cutlets to katsu-level thinness, and their jagged, craggy crusts soak up lots of smoky chili oil. If it’s your first time, order the JFC Original sandwich, topped with dill pickles, a mound of iceberg, and a tangy “JFC sauce” that keeps things moist. If the mild spice still spooks you, get the Georgia Peach, a wacky but kind of genius combination of fried chicken and canned peaches inside a giant biscuit (fork and knife required)." - Sylvio Martins
