W.C. Harlan - Review - Old Goucher - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"W.C. Harlan comes from the same owner as Faddensonnen and Clavel, and this bar very much feels like the wisest and oldest sibling of the group. Inspired by small hideaway bars found in Portugal and Spain, this former row home is furnished with wooden chairs, family heirlooms, and candles whose wax remnants drip two feet deep. With a seasonal cocktail list, you never know exactly what you might find, but that’s part of the fun—the experts behind the bar know how to balance simplicity with complexity, often highlighting Clavel’s mezcals or Faddensonnen’s sake. Past evenings have featured a mezcal martini, a suitable beverage to sip while waiting for a nearby dinner reservation, or the Caffé Pistacchio, a luscious brandy-based cocktail reminiscent of gelato." - Michele Berry
