Smoke House Restaurant - Review - Burbank - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Located exactly one crosswalk away from Warner Brothers Studios, Smoke House has been a Valley legend since 1942 and a place where, on any given night, you’ll find celebrities, set designers, and security guards all swigging martinis and toasting to another day on the lot. The space is essentially a series of massive interconnecting dining rooms, each filled with various fireplaces, wood-paneled walls, and of course, hundreds of framed acting headshots. As for food, don’t get too cute with your order—this is the kind of place where if your table isn’t filled up with caesar salads, massive plates of prime rib, and several orders of their famous garlic bread, you took a wrong turn somewhere. photo credit: Kim Fox Food Rundown The World's Greatest Garlic Bread We haven’t tried every garlic bread in the world, but we’re not fighting the name of this dish. Every table at Smoke House has a basket of cheesy, slightly charred bread on it, and so should yours. photo credit: Kim Fox Caesar Salad This is a textbook, down-the-middle caesar and that’s not a dig. Because when you’re at a restaurant with a Jimmy Stewart headshot on the wall, eating a big plate of chopped romaine, creamy dressing, and some croutons will more than suffice. photo credit: Kim Fox Baby Back Ribs The strongest section on Smoke House’s menu is the barbecue, and in particular, the ribs. The meat is juicy, the sauce is tangy, and pulling apart the individual bones is a fun group activity. photo credit: Kim Fox Smoke House Cut Prime Rib The prime rib here isn’t quite on the level of Lawry’s, but if you’re in the mood for a slab of medium-rare meat and don’t feel like driving to Beverly Hills to get it, you’ll leave happy. We also appreciate that it comes with a gravy boat of au jus for intermittent moisturizing. photo credit: Kim Fox Chicken Piccata We’ve never once jumped up and down in our seat for a plate of chicken piccata and this version extends the streak. But for a relatively lighter entree at Smoke House (which is no easy task), this nicely cooked chicken breast sauteed in white wine is your best bet. photo credit: Kim Fox Chocolate Mousse Did you know the easiest way to cure a case of meat sweats is an ice-cold slice of chocolate mousse cake? Now you do. photo credit: Kim Fox" - Brant Cox
