When in Issaquah, get tasty seafood at Fins Bistro - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Fins is a shining star among the many duds on Issaquah’s main Front Street drag. It’s a lovely spot to grab a nice seafood meal featuring things like paprika-buttered prawns on garlicky toast, crab bisque that looks like heavy cream but tastes like summer on the coast, and miso black cod that could compete with Seattle’s best Japanese institutions. Just make sure to end things with the pineapple crème brûlée. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Hearts Of Romaine We'd come to Fins solely for the romaine salad, which is kind of like a caesar with a bit of Canlis-style influence—there's a creamy-peppery dressing, croutons, a mountain of grated cheese, bacon, mint, and oregano. It's a wonderful beginning to a meal here. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Crab Bisque There’s not much to their tableside crab bisque presentation. You receive a bowl containing a few bits of lump Dungeness meat, and then a server simply pours hot soup on top. The bright side is that the bisque is very tasty, and the whole song-and-dance brings the staff joy. So, cheer them on and let them have this. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Gambas Al Ajillo The prawns are cooked perfectly, and the accompanying smoked paprika-garlic butter makes a great pairing for the shellfish and crostini. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Seared Ahi Tuna This dish is improved if you go heavy on the soy and wasabi—otherwise, the seared tuna is mediocre. Rice and wilted spinach are also nothing special. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Miso Black Cod As the crown jewel of Fins, this black cod has an excellent sear and appropriate levels of salt. We also like the kimchi-studded rice underneath. PlayMute video credit: Aimee Rizzo Pineapple Crème Brûlée Don't leave without this happy marriage of caramelized sugar and macerated pineapple. Half of the fun is scraping the bottom to reveal custardy fruit bits. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo" - Aimee Rizzo
