"Lonely Mouth is a day-to-night Japanese listening cafe with a brunch experience that will remind you of the last stoic hour of a night out. The music, courtesy of a two-stepping DJ, is loud but no one’s dancing, chaos has given way to frustration, and you already paid when you placed your order so you’re determined to squeeze a little joy out of the whole experience. Most people make the pilgrimage to this end of Gloucester Road for Lonely Mouth’s elusive daytime muse, the matcha cream french toast, but the best way to avoid a 72-minute wait is to stop by off-peak for one of the ube matchas or in the evening when they’re open late Thursday to Saturday. Chances are, you’ll be a lot more in the mood for pumping music and posing if you arrive with a full stomach (having had dinner at one of the hot spots a 10-minute drive away on Chandos Road) and a glass of natural wine in your hand." - Heidi Lauth Beasley
